CTK - Choir in ProcessionSing a New Song unto the Lord…

Music has always been an integral part of worship for the congregation of Christ the King.  Many musicians, both professional and avocational, number within the ranks of our congregation.  Whether in the pews or in the choir loft, we are a hearty, singing congregation.  If you have a longing to play or sing, we encourage you to find the best way for you to offer your musical gifts at Christ the King.

Under the direction of Dr. Barbara Wild, the Christ the King choir sings weekly at the 10am Sunday Eucharist from September to early June, accompanied by our organist Brian Taylor.  We are a community of about 10 volunteers, augmenting our numbers for Christmas and Easter seasons.

We rehearse weekly on Wednesdays at 5pm and Sunday mornings before the 10am service.

The choir is a close-knit group within the larger community of the congregation, working to lead and inspire through the sung word.  Besides singing together weekly, we enjoy social fellowship and creative renewal at our twice-yearly choir retreats and choir parties.  In addition to regular weekly worship on Sunday, we also sing for special events including:

Choral Evensong service – a uniquely Anglican service.

Christmas Lessons & Carols service–traditionally on Advent IV.

                                                                     Christmas Eve Musical Prelude.

Holy Week services–Maundy Thursday, Good Friday.

We also enjoy joining with other choirs, soloists, and musical ensembles for special occasions.  In recent years we have enjoyed the company of the Huguenot Brass Quintet & Timpani for our Easter Festival Eucharist and for our Patronal Feast of Christ the King in November.  The choir has also been known to sing for weddings and funerals at the parish.

Membership in the choir is open to anyone by means of a simple interview and audition. Parish membership is not a prerequisite to participation with the choir. Interested ringers or singers are always welcome to contact the Director of Music, Dr. Barbara Wild,  wildbarb@gmail.com
